I always liked the « misappropriation » of objets. Take the object out its normal context always create surprise and astonishment. This is what I tried to create with this sculptural floor lamp, 1m80 high (6 feet).

The pictures do not give the feeling that the lamp is as tall as a man (and taller than many woman !). You have to see it in real to realize how the proportions are for this clothespin XXL !

The lamp is made in the same piece of wood (white oak), just cut in the middle. You can then follow the wood’s drawings from a leg to another.

The two pieces are connected together with a spring made with memory steel and perfectly functioning. However, for security reasons, and to avoid that children play with it and make it fall on them, I locked the legs.

One of the leg is made with a multitude of little pieces of exotic woods (Zebrano, Ziricote, Smoke oak, Walnut, Oliver elm). It reinforces the atypical side of the lamp. These pieces of wood are here to hide a groove whose goal is to slip on a long stem of steel. This little trick allows to give a feeling of balance.
