As you probably noticed, most of our lamps have a round shape. Philosophy time : the curved line is to nature what the straight line is to men… It does not exist in nature, perfectly straight lines, even the horizon line. Maybe for this reason, buildings, drawings, and all the designs with rectilinear lines seem to be so contemporary, and belong to men.

This is what inspire me this little series of cubic lamps design, with sharp edges and straight lines. The design is quite simple, a cubic base, and a shade light with the same shape or so. I think there a kind of architectural spirit with these lamps design, it gives what I was expecting, a contemporary look.

Last of this little cubic lamp design series, this floor lamp is clearly different from the others. And this is mainly due to its dimension. Its base is higher and larger. But most of all, this floor lamp stands out with it unusually high shade light.

Each face of the base is made with four blades, cut in the same piece of wood, Olive Ash. Then, if you take a closer look, you will notice that there is a precise order within the blades of wood that follow the order of cut. So the drawings are slightly different with each of the sixteen blade. This type of cut, at the end of the plank, Olive Ash is a remarkable wood, as much by its warm sand color, but also by its amazing drawings.
